Getting Started
As you prepare the information for your web site, remember
that most people will go to your site for information. For this reason,
you must provide content that is interesting and well thought out.
To help you with your preparation, we have some advice on the important
things to do:
- Surf the web to find sites that interest you.
- Make notes of what you find attractive and interesting.
- Find sites you want to link your sites to (sites with similar or
complementary information on them.)
Now let's get started! Every web site is different,
so you need to think about what is important to you. Think about what
your viewers will be looking for. Ask yourself, "Why have they come
to my site?"
The following are some items you should gather for your site:
- Information about you and/or your company/organization (a brief
history, philosophy).
- If you are selling yourself as the provider of a service, visitors
to your site will want to know about your experience in your field.
You may want to put together a list of your accomplishments, experiences,
sales track record, etc.
- If you are selling yourself as the provider of a service, you should
provide a current photograph.
- A copy of your company/organization logo (if you have one). We
can scan any logos or photos for you.
- Information, prices, and pictures / photos of your product(s).
- Information regarding the types of services that you offer.
- A must to include is: Do you offer services that are unique, different
or better than your competition has to offer? If so, what are they
and how will they benefit your viewer?
- Gather together any personal and/or company/organization print
media including news releases and product/service brochures.
To think of other information you may need to gather,
ask yourself..."What questions do my customers most frequently ask
me?" This is the type of information that will be of interest to your
viewers and should be on your web site
